Alicia Anne Adams

Alicia is a writer and folklorist based in the rolling South Downs of England. Having studied Medieval Literature at University, Alicia has carried her love of old lore and legend into her career as a content writer, creating heartfelt copy for heritage craft businesses.

Alicia runs her own business, Balefire Blades, alongside her husband, an internationally renowned swordsmith. Together they research historical smithing techniques and use them to provide authentic-feeling fencing tools to the historical fencing world. The experience of starting a small heritage craft business has inspired Alicia to help other traditional crafters tell their stories and keep the old ways alive.

As such, Alicia has written an original short story for each artwork in the Forgotten Fleece Tales exhibit, drawing out themes of heritage, community, folklore and ecology, all woven together with wool. These tales accompany their inspirations both in the exhibit itself, where they can be read or watched via QR code, and in the companion book.

When she's not writing about craft and heritage, Alicia can be found working on her debut novel, performing with her folklore-inspired music project Fae as Folk, and making traditional leather goods.
