Lynne Sneddon

Lynne Sneddon is a Scottish maker and fibre enthusiast, passionate about using wool and ensuring it's not wasted. Though she didn't grow up around sheep, Lynne taught herself to process wool after rescuing unwanted fleeces from farmers.

Lynne particularly enjoys finding naturally-shed wool on fences and bushes in the countryside. She uses this "fence fleece" alongside rescued fleeces and scraps from other projects to create unique wool gifts which she sells under her Fresaichigo brand.

She also researches innovative uses of wool, from tree shelters and path laying to cosmetics, and everything in between. In her Wonders of Wool talks, Lynne discusses these uses, alongside the joy of picking and processing fence fleece.

Lynne's Pieces for Forgotten Fleece Tales

Lynne has created a display of fence fleece, rescue fleece and recycled fleece bookmarks, showcasing the found materials alongside the unique giftware she makes from them. The bookmarks are made from fleece that has been foraged or rescued, hand processed, hand spun and hand woven. The bookmarks and fleece samples are presented hanging from a piece of fence wire, with tags telling the story of each piece and encouraging viewers to consider the natural origins of the things they own.

Lynne has also created a shawl, hand-knitted from a variety of fleeces that would otherwise have gone to waste. This is presented alongside the fence fleece bookmarks, demonstrating how rescued materials can be repurposed into something unique and wearable.
